- DirectPlay Activation: Older graphics interfaces might require DirectPlay (accessible via Windows Features) to compile layouts cleanly on Windows 11.

How to Install & Configure on Windows 10/11
Follow these four quick steps to install the official setup file and prevent any startup crashes on newer PCs.
Run the Official Installer
Locate the downloaded installvectoriangiotto.exe on your disk. Double-click to initiate the setup wizard. If Microsoft SmartScreen prompts with an “Unknown Publisher” dialog, click on “More info” and choose “Run anyway”. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the standard installation.
Locate the Executable & Open Properties
Once installed, navigate to the installation directory (usually found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Vectorian\Giotto\). Find the main executable icon named Giotto.exe. Right-click on it and select Properties from the context menu.
Toggle Compatibility Mode
Inside the Properties panel, switch to the Compatibility tab. Check the option “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” and pick Windows 7 or Windows XP (Service Pack 3) from the drop-down selector to enable older Windows architecture support.
Enable Admin Privilege & Apply
Scroll down the same compatibility tab and check the option labeled “Run this program as an administrator”. This permits Giotto to compile timelines and write transient SWF output files directly without OS read/write restrictions. Hit Apply, then click OK. You’re ready to design!

Error 01 “Flash Player or ActiveX control is missing” / Black Canvas
Why this happens: Vectorian Giotto’s internal rendering engine relies on the legacy Internet Explorer ActiveX Flash Player plugin to draw the live canvas. Since Microsoft removed Flash from Windows, the editor may load into a blank or black screen.
